Well, if you are an Apple fan then the Apple Silicon or M1 chip is not news to you. If you are wondering what that is, don’t worry. We’ve got you.

Apple in November 2020 released the first Macs with an Arm-based M1 chip, debuting new 2020 13-inch MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and Mac mini models. In 2021, Apple added the M1 iMac and the M1 iPad Pro.

The M1 chip has received rave reviews for its incredible performance and efficiency, and it is the culmination of more than a decade of Apple’s work on chips created for the iPhone and the iPad. While most people are still trying to get their heads around it, Apple launched two chips; the M1 PRO and the M1 Max.

This is what our tech team got from the apple October Event. Now let us look at the M1 PRO.

The M1 PRO chip has a 10-core CPU, 8 high-performance with 2 high-efficiency and a 16-core GPU with up to a whopping 32 GB of RAM and built on the 5-manometer process. Now Apple is saying this new chip will deliver a 70% faster CPU performance and a 100% GPU performance over the M1. Of course, Apple always compare their new tech to their previous tech.

The M1 Max on the other hand has the same 10-Core CPU but up to 32-Cores GPU and up to 64 GB of shared memory which is about 4 times the graphics capability of the M1.

The New MacBook Pro

There new MacBook Pro come in two sizes, the 14-inch and the 16-inch MacBook Pro. The redesigned MacBook is back with MagSafe, the magnetic pin-based reversible charging connector, which supports fast charging by the way. But you can still charge with the USB-C if you want. Also, they got rid of the touch bar and replaced it with real function keys at the top of the laptop as well as a fingerprint touch ID sensor at the top-right corner of the keyboard.

The ports are back as well, the HDMI port, three Thunderbolt 4 ports and the SD Card slot. Now for the screen, they both have 120 hertz ProMotion Liquid Retina XDR display. There is also notch at the top that houses the 1080p webcam which does not support Face ID.

Also there have been a significant improvement in the battery department. We are talking of 17 hours of video playback on the 14 inch and 21 straight hours on the 16 inches, impressive hah? The MagSafe will also give you 50% charge in just 30 minutes. There are significant improvements in the speakers and microphone as well.
