
The University Students’ Association of Ghana has elected a level 600 student from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to serve as its president (USAG).
Student of optometry Christian Anderson Ntiful received 426 of the 710 votes cast.
His closest rival received 179 votes less than him.
The election, which was said to be quite calm, was held over the weekend at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW).
Ofori Yaw Bismark, the general secretary, Angela Aku Sika, the press and information secretary, Solomon Osei Fosu, the financial controller, and Desmond Adu-Gyamfi, the association’s treasurer, are the other newly elected officers.
The Women’s Commissioner was chosen to be Ellen Tackie Bonsuo, while the International and Diaspora Relations Secretary was chosen to be Angela Asantewaa Amoako.
Additionally, the role of Coordinating Secretary was gained by Dayan Akpene Ama Green.
About the Congress
The 21st Congress of the University Students’ Association of Ghana took place from Thursday, June 30, to Sunday, July 3.
The opening ceremony of the congress, with the topic “Eradicating Corruption; the Role of the University Students,” was one of several events that took place.
The Vice-Chancellor of UEW, the Dean of Students of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), and the Executive Director of EOCO were among the dignitaries who spoke at the occasion.
Others present were Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Chairperson of GTEC, who spoke on behalf of the Vice President.
