Legal documents that were made public on Monday reveal that Elon Musk‘s 18-year-old daughter has changed her name in order to distance herself from her millionaire father.

In a petition for both a name change and a new birth certificate, she stated, “I no longer live with or wish to be associated to my biological father in any way, shape, or form.

After turning 18, California’s legal age of consent, Musk’s daughter also changed her gender recognition from male to female.
The documents, which were submitted to the Santa Monica branch of the Los Angeles County Superior Court in April, were just recently made public by internet media sources.

The internet document redacted her new name. Justine Wilson is her mother, and she was married to Elon from 2000 until 2008, when she divorced him. Musk and Wilson are the parents of five children. Musk is also the father of two children by singer Grimes.

Wilson expressed her pride in her daughter in a tweet on Tuesday. She did not reply immediately to a second request for comment.

There were no further details on Musk’s daughter’s feud with her father, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO.

Musk, the world’s richest man, is making a high-profile $44 billion attempt to take over Twitter. According to a regulatory filing, Twitter’s board unanimously recommended that shareholders approve the proposed sale on Tuesday. Musk restated his willingness to proceed with the acquisition during a virtual conference with Twitter staff last week, while the CEO has also stated that there are several “unresolved problems” about the deal.

Musk chastised media outlets for publicizing the information about his daughter and her name in a message to the Daily Beast.

He stated, “She does not want to be a public person.” “I believe it is critical to safeguard her right to privacy.” It’s not fair to out someone against their will.” Musk did not immediately react to a follow-up comment request.

Later this month, a hearing to finalize the name change will be held.
