Soon, European Union users of iPhones and iPads will be able to select default applications for a variety of functions, including keyboards, password managers, phone calls, and messaging. An update on Thursday stated that these options will be accessible later this year in a new “Default Apps” section in Settings.

According to Apple, customers will be able to customise call spam filter apps, translation apps, and default navigation in the spring of the next year. Users of iPhones in the EU will also be able to remove the App Store, Messages, Camera, Photos, and Safari applications in addition to these additional alternatives. Apple simply forbids users from deleting the Phone and Settings applications.

The browser option screen that appears when a user opens Safari on their iPhone in the EU will soon undergo some minor adjustments that will enable users to install other browsers like Firefox, Chrome, or DuckDuckGo.

When the update is released, Apple will make all EU users who have Safari configured as their default browser go through the whole list of default browsers before choosing one. The choice screen will also show the App Store caption for the selected browser.
