This was revealed in an interview with GraphicOnline over the weekend following a health walk in Accra by the Director of UN Operations in Ghana, Ifeoma Charles-Monwuba, who was a representative of the UN Country Director.

In addition to a commitment to leaving no one behind, a basic and human rights-based approach, gender equality and women’s empowerment, fostering resilience and sustainability, and enhancing accountability are also outlined in the document.

UN 77th Anniversary

The walk served as the official start to celebrations for the United Nations’ 77th anniversary. “Building on the 3Ss- Solidarity, Sustainability, and Science- Toward a more Resilient Ghana” was the conference’s overarching topic.

Participants were chosen from the staff of the Ghana Armed Forces, the Police Service, the Immigration Service, and the Prisons Service, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.

The State House’s front lawn served as the starting point for the stroll through some of Accra’s main streets and back to the State House.

The health walk, according to Ms. Charles-Monwuba, served to mark the beginning of the United Nations’ 77th anniversary of its founding, to educate Ghanaians about the UN’s presence there, and to highlight the cooperation between Ghana and the world body.

She continued, “It is also to show the good cooperation and hospitality that UN in Ghana has received from the government and people of Ghana, as well as for the exercise’s health benefit.

He declared that additional events planned to commemorate the day included a student debate, flag-raising, and a reception for the diplomatic community and the host government to highlight Ghana’s status as a powerful UN member state and to demonstrate that the UN is in Ghana to stay and serve.
