WhatsApp Working on Displaying Profile Photos in Group Chats for iOS. WhatsApp is reportedly working on a feature that will change the user interface of the app on iOS by displaying profile photos in group chats . The feature is said to be in the works, but its release date is unknown.

The announcement comes just a few days after it was reported that WhatsApp for iOS might get a feature that allows users to view status updates within the chat list. This feature is already available on WhatsApp for Android beta testers.

According to WABetainfo, a platform that tests WhatsApp features before they are rolled out to the general public, WhatsApp for iOS will soon get a testing feature that will show the profile picture of participants within group chats.

The profile picture will be displayed alongside the message you sent in that group. Currently, WhatsApp only displays the names of group members next to their messages.

According to the platform, WhatsApp submitted a new update via the TestFlight beta Program, bringing the WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.18.0.72. It also stated that there is no way to disable this feature “because it will always be enabled by default for all group participants and there is no switch for it.”

As previously stated, this feature is still in development, so no information on when it will be available to regular users is available.

The news follows a report that WhatsApp will release a feature for iOS beta testers that will allow them to view status updates within the chat list. Users can view the status update by clicking on a contact’s display picture in the chat list, and it can be disabled by muting all status updates.

It has also been reported that WhatsApp will introduce an undo delete message feature, allowing users to recover accidentally deleted messages in a chat.

After deleting a message, they will reportedly receive a snackbar at the bottom of the screen with the Delete for Me option, which can be used to give users the option to recover the deleted message within a certain time frame.
